The Wild and the Wondering
The journey that closes the season wide open – where you remember you are small, and the world is vast, and that is the most peaceful thing you’ve felt in years.
all-inclusive no single supplement
There is a specific, ancient feeling that comes from watching a wild animal move through its own landscape, entirely unbothered by your presence, a quiet reminder that the world was here long before you and carries on without needing you to manage any of it. Few places offer that feeling as generously as the Maasai Mara.
This seven-day safari is based almost entirely at one private tented camp perched on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, with views that stretch for miles across the plain below. Mornings and evenings are spent on game drives shaped by the light and the movement of the animals rather than a fixed schedule, and a visit to a local Maasai women’s cooperative offers a genuine exchange rather than a staged photo opportunity. The trip builds toward one extraordinary day, built entirely around your camp’s best wildlife moment, before closing with a farewell dinner under a sky holding more stars than most of us have ever actually seen.
Dawn and dusk game drives across the Maasai Mara
A private tented camp overlooking the Great Rift Valley
A visit to a local Maasai women’s beading cooperative
An optional sunrise hot-air balloon safari
One extraordinary wildlife moment, built into the trip as its own dedicated day
After an airport welcome, you settle into a private lodge for one night to rest before heading into the bush. A welcome dinner brings the group together, with no logistics talk beyond this first evening.
A private light-aircraft charter carries you into the reserve, with no long road transfers, so that every hour is spent watching rather than travelling. Once you arrive at your ultra-luxury tented camp, you head straight out for your first game drive as the light turns gold.
The safari rhythm settles in, beginning with a sunrise drive over coffee and blankets, followed by rest through the heat of the day back at camp. A second drive at golden hour is led by a female naturalist guide where available.
A full day takes you further into the reserve, with a bush picnic lunch set beneath an acacia tree, and a visit to a local Maasai women’s beading cooperative, offered as a genuine exchange rather than a staged stop.
This day is built around your camp’s single most extraordinary moment, whether that means river crossings during migration season or a big-cat tracking morning with the resident naturalist. Your photographer captures you against landscapes that most people only ever see in documentaries. THE WOW MOMENT
This lighter day offers an optional sunrise hot-air balloon safari and a spa afternoon at camp, before a farewell dinner is held under the stars with a private fire and Maasai singers. Your portrait book is handed to you as the season closes.
A light aircraft carries you back to Nairobi for your onward connections.
A boutique, colonial-style hotel to rest before the bush.
An ultra-luxury tented camp overlooking the Mara.
This journey is hosted personally by Shivangi, Vyoma’s founder. Travel, for her, is a form of meditation — presence, gratitude, and the joy of simply being — and that’s the spirit she brings to every journey, travelling alongside you as a fellow traveller from arrival to farewell.
Angama Mara sits on the Oloololo Escarpment, a thousand feet above the floor of the Maasai Mara, with views that stretch for miles across the plain below. Each tented suite is designed to feel like its own private home, and the camp’s location gives you some of the best wildlife odds in Kenya without ever feeling crowded.
Some vaccinations and antimalarial precautions are generally recommended. We send full medical guidance well ahead of departure, and recommend confirming details with your own doctor.
Not demanding at all. You remain seated in an open vehicle throughout, though some walking is involved during the Maasai village visit.
Sightings can never be guaranteed with wild animals, but Angama Mara's location gives you some of the best odds in Kenya, and your guide will work hard to find them.
It's offered as an optional add-on at an additional cost, since not every guest wants an early sunrise start on that particular morning.
